Now that I had 4.0 the class, I can blog strategically Muahaha~ Hopefully some travelling agency would find this blog and sponsor me to travel and write for them.
For now, lets jump into the time machine and go back to spring break. When everyone else go to someplace warm like Cancun, Florida, and Hawaii. Danica and I drove up to Toronto because we are fabulous like that.
It took us about 1.5 hour to get to the Port Huron-Ontario border and for me to realize that I forgot to bring my passport!! Such a noobish mistake, but really Canada is so similar to Michigan, except you would throw coins to strippers because they don't have paper 1 dollar bill like US.
So we end up making a U turn back to US to get my passport. 3 hours of quality time together..
By the time we reached Niagara falls, it was 8 or 9 pm and all the store were closed. We did not have any access to internet or telephone and our GPS brought us to the middle of nowhere. Luckily Tim Horton ready to safe us. Since it is literary everywhere, we can stop by to leach on their WiFi whenever we got lost.
We start the next day by going to St.Lawrence market. This is such a great place to eat and hunt for souvenirs. We had the peameal bacon that everyone so hyped about and yes IT WAS GLORIOUS!! Nothing could go wrong with thick cut deep fried bacon! You'll get the best of both world; soft bacon and crispy breading...yummmm
Here's how it looks like on the inside
Peameal bacon <3 <3
We actually decided to purchase the city pass and made sure that we would visit the restaurants recommended by Anthony Bourdain on "The Layover". So the next day, we were planning to go to Toronto Zoo and ROM. But we had so much fun looking at those overwhelmingly cute animals!! So we didn't made it to ROM.
I mean look at this hippo that think he is a loaf of bread..
I really like the zoo. It was unique, most parts were indoor and and each animal was placed in the building that were decorated like the animal's country of origin. They even have a room that were set up to imitate a researcher's house, complete with the vintage typing machine <3
At night, we went to a funky bar called Andy Poolhall. What I like the most is that the bar was so clean and eccentric, there's a bunch of cool painting and artistic chair that calls for #SELFIE hahah. Check out the website for better quality pictures!!
We shared a glass of "Melon Ball" and it made it to the top of my favorite mix drink list. I'm such an economic drinker, I just need 2 or 3 sips before my face turns red.. So don't listen to me if you are more of a heavy drinker because what I like usually taste more like juice than alcohol
The following days, we went to Royal Ontario Museum, Casa loma, Ontario Science Centre, and CN Tower. I like them all, but there's nothing special about them. Basically, you'll get what you expect from each of them.
However, we did found two hidden gems: Second Cup and Edulis.
Second Cup is a small local coffee house just right in front of ROM. I had my first "London Fog" ever, it's similar to green tea latte but instead of green tea, you have earl grey tea. When we were about to give up, we also found the famous Nanaimo bar in Second Cup!! It's really sweet, so make sure you get the tea to tone it down.
Edulis on the other hand, is expensive but worth it. They only offer two options: 5 course or 7 course. Each course cost $10, but you can't really pick what you want to eat. The chef will surprise you with whatever fresh ingredients that he found that day.
Everything that we had was great even though I am not sure what's in there. we chose the 5 course menu and it was definitely fulfilling.
To the picky eaters, you are totally missing out! In my opinion, being open minded about food is the first step to really learn about other culture. So if you didn't even want to try something because it is not familiar, you are preventing yourself from having great experiences.
Until the next adventure you all, Vagabond girl is out~
